Expecting a policeman to tell the difference between autism, insanity, retardation, drugs, suicide-by-cop, or just a ***head before one decides to attack is unreasonable.

If the person is so socially maladjusted they can't function in a police encounter, then they shouldn't be wandering around loose without a minder.

The fault here is with the responsible person who let someone like that out unsupervised, not with the officer.
