ROFL!
I did that as a teenager back in 1977 or so. I'd bought a used Pontiac, got screwed on the title, and no scrap or salvage yard would touch it, because you had to have a lien-free and notarized title and notarized bill of sale before they would take it. So a friend and I towed it to the local Wal-Mart and left it in the parking lot late one night.
Over the next few weeks it evaporated - first the wheels and tires, then the doors (?!), seats... eventually there was just a stripped shell sitting there, which finally went away too.
We thought it was hilarious at the time; enough that we disposed of an old Impala by leaving it in the principal's reserved parking slot at school. It evaporated in a similar fashion, accompanied by increasingly angry diatribes over the school PA system.
Of course, I'm an adult now and I know it's wrong to do stuff like that. Besides, they have surveillance cameras now...
