Thread: armed attack on motorcyclist

This went across a couple of motorcycle fora, but for some reason I haven't seen it on any of the gun fora:

Motorcyclist Charged and Booked for Recording Stop - Baltimore News, Weather, Breaking News | WMAR-TV

A motorcylist is cut off in traffic by a car, a guy jumps out, pulls a pistol, runs up and grabs the bike. He's yelling "get off the motorcycle! State police!"

Plain car, no uniform, no badge. Just a nut with a gun. Here in Arkansas, as far as I know there are no plainclothes State Police, and pulling the gun is a serious matter - it can lead to an assault charge.

Anyone can say they're a cop. Pulling iron at a guy who was stopped in traffic was over the top to start with. Watching the helmet-cam video, my only thought was "Carjack!" Or bike-jack. Cops aren't supposed to behave like that, at least around here. The nut's gun was already out, and I'm no fast draw anyway, but if he'd pulled a CCW in self defense, as far as I'm concerned he would have been absolutely justified. There's a damned good reason we put the JBTs in uniforms and marked cars.

The guy was cutting up in traffic and admitted it. But the charge? "Recording an officer." Lots of states passed similar laws after the Rodney King thing.
