Thread: Would you provide first aid to someone you shot?
Retrieved: 08/09/2014

If you had a small medical kit, would you or should you try and save someone you have shot in self defense? This assumes he is no longer armed and not a threat (not conscious, severely bleeding, etc). I wonder if it would hurt you in court?

Once you've shot someone, you're now the "assailant" and the other guy is the "victim." That's a different legal relationship than a witness or bystander.

It might also be unclear to any witnesses (or your victim) whether you were legitimately trying to render aid, or if you were continuing your attack up close and personal.

I'm going with "call 911" and withdrawing to a safe distance. Let any witnesses provide aid if they're inclined.
