Which sear jig should I go for? Ed Brown has decently priced jig but I'm not sure it is the best. It looks difficult to use compared to other jigs

Is it possible to get good results with this tool?

Yeah, its possible and its what I use (Ed brown sear jig). There are other more complex jigs out there but they do several different firearms. The way I see it, the 1911 is the only pistol worth owning so I get a 1911specific jig. I own both the Wilson and the Brown jig and they are both great fixtures and work about the same.

Once you get it set up for the sear you like (EGW Sear) you will never need to adjust it again for the life of the sear.

I bought the Brown jig about a year or so ago, and it works well. I have cleaned up all the triggers on my 1911s and you can get the sear face geometry just right with this jig.

Basically you hold the sear nose tight to the jig with your thumb and run a stone along the top of the jig and sear nose. There is a bit of shim stock included so you don't actually wear down the surface of the jig with the stone. I use a bit of sticky grease like Militech to keep the shim stuck to the jig.

It's very easy to use for the occasional trigger job, though if I were doing 50 trigger jobs a day I might pick something else.

The instructions are pretty detailed as well. So far the Brown jig is all I need, and I'm quite satisfied with it.

Yea its a pretty good jig if you only want to do 1911 trigger jobs and you use the same sear all the time. IE It has a adjustable screw but its not something you want to be adjusting all the time which is why I always use the same sear otherwise you must dicker with the adjustment screw all the time.

TIP: I Crazy Glue the steel shim to the jig and if it ever wears down I will rip it off and reglue another one down to it, works for me.
