Just got a Colt GC sear from Midway. It doesn't have the little hole for the depressor spring. Changed design or goofup?
The Gold Cup doesn't use the depressor spring anymore as the trigger is now aluminum and not as great a trigger bounce problem.
Ah... I suspected as much... can the original design still be found anywhere? S'pose I could put the hole in it, have a sample to work off of.
I've been fighting hammer follow in my series 70. I have a Harrison long alum trigger/no holes. I wonder if it's too heavy. I'm planning to go to a long milled trigger which will be heavier, hence ordering the GC extra parts.

Why would you want to change it? If it is the new Gold Cup Trophy it will work just fine as designed.
I'm making a "stealth" GC out of my regular series 70. Maybe I'm odd, but I like the original GI hammer, long trigger, etc, and want a light trigger pull, and the Colt method of reducing hammer follow and sear wear seems like a good idea to me. I got the idea from my buddy's series 70 GC. I tried his parts in mine and it worked... so I'm looking for my own parts. I may actually end up running an Enhanced hammer, we'll see.
I found that the hammer and GS tang lengths changed from 1911 - A1, and if you run the short hammer with the long GS tang, it reduces hammer bite without installing some "new fangled" beavertail GS.
