I got the problem with the slide issue solved, shot both 1911s today, now they jam on the second shot, the round jams about a 1/4" from being chambered, I can push the round in the rest of the way in with my finger, one gun jams about 1/8" from being in battery, I can finish chambering by pushing on the slide with my thumb. the first round chambered by racking the slide by hand chambers ok. the ammo is regular hard ball. they will not chamber a lee rnfp bullet. I am thinking weak recoil springs or too much tension on the extractor, or both. any ideas? thanks guys the spring and extractor are sarco parts. they came in their frame and slide kits. :anim_beer:

You probably need to tune the extractor - that is make sure it has the correct bevels in the correct spots as well as checking tension. Here, this saves me some typing...

Thanks Gene, the extractor had way too much tension on it.

The upper throat edge needs a very small radius, one of the few times a cratex roll comes in handy.
