I've got an old AMT stainless frame that I'm building as a .22. Problem is the sear pin hole on the right side of the frame is not square or in line with the left.
Anyone got any ideas on the best way to fix this? Thinking laser welding up the right hole and drilling a new one through from the left.
My first thought was, Good... the pin isn't square either!
How much out are the two sides?
This frame was previously in use?
Was a hardballer, got it as a stripped frame. Don't know history.
Pin hole are out enough that the pin wont drop in, but can be pushed in at the slight angle but gets very tight as it gets futher in the right side and has to be tapped out.
Weld up the right side hole and redrill it. There's not really any other way to fix it.
I knew a guy who had one of the Famous Oriental Clones with non-parallel sear and hammer pins. He said, "no problem, I just filed the sear tip and hammer hooks to the same angle so they would mate up."
That's what I was thinking!
If you want the pin to drop in you could align ream the holes.
Thanks for the advice guys, think I will try ream align the holes and if that doesn't work as planned, weld it up and redrill.
