I am changing my Para extractor and getting a new one. I noticed mine is not one solid piece but two.

Can I replace it with a one of these?

You can replace it with a one piece but you'll need to get a sleeve since the para is a larger diameter than a stock extractor (I think I saw some in Brownells).

Why does Para use a two piece extractor? Just curious.

I guess they think it's a better "mouse trap" kind of thing.

The extractor hook is larger too

They call it their "PTX" extractor

I had a Para with the PTX... I'm not a fan of it and don't by any means consider it a "better mouse trap"

As Str8shootr said, Ron, you'll need an insert.

...and I'm not positive, but thinking maybe EGW has an extractor that will replace the PTX. or maybe that's who's making the insert... but seems I recall EGW has something to replace the PTX.

It's "PXT," for Power eXTractor. The idea is that instead of the extractor itself being a spring, the extractor parts are rigid and there's a small coil spring inside that is supposed to maintain correct and constant tension. The principle is not unlike the aftermarket Aftec extractor that's used by many competition shooters.

EGW is the company making the sleeve to adapt a standard extractor to a PXT slide.
