Hi, does anyone know how to install an ejector I don't think my pin hole is big enough? Also my ejector has no holes in it for the pin to go through. The ejector leg doesn't perfectly line up with the hole only about one third of the leg lines up. Do I need to drill through the leg and put the pin all the way through or what? I'm stuck and cant find info on this anywhere. My last post about the magazine I will just leave until my Wilson mag arrives and see if that fixes it.

Only one of my 1911s has the ejector pinned.

I have eight 1911/2011 pistols with pinned ejectors. The pin only hits 1/3 - 1/2 of the pin diameter. Push it into place (should be snug, but not hammered in) and cross drill, leaving a bite out of the ejector post. Pin it in place with a roll pin (must be hammered in).

Incidentally, relieve a little area under the ejector so you can pry it out with a screwdriver if necessary.

If you try to drill the pin hole past the leg, you are gonna be sorry!

Use a 1/16" drill bit, backwards, to mark the leg. Remove and file a small groove. Reinstall and mark again.

Repeat until the drill bit can be pushed through.

Okay thanks I will give it a go when my extended ejector arrives.

The ejector pin is only supposed to go through the 1st 1/3, so that's O.K.

What Pistolwrench said was GREAT advice.

I did it on one build, but on my second, I used a drill press, some oil & went very slowly so as not to enlarge the hole when it hit the ejector but I used a 1/16 ROUND BALL DREMEL BIT. My drill went perfectly trough everything without a hiccup.

However I wouldn't want to recommend this & be responsible if something should go wrong. I only mention it because a forum is for everyone to share their own personal experience.

Either way, you should drill the hole completely through the frame. This way, if you ever have to change it, you can just push the pin out from the other side. That's what I did on my builds because I saw it on a 'Professional Firearm' & it made sense to me. There is no danger of the pin coming out because the slide won't let it.

In my Sarco kit they did not include a 'steel spring roll pin'. I urge you to purchase one. Not only do they stay in place but they hold the ejector firmly. The size is 1/16th, the length can vary.

On one of my frames the roll pin interferes with the hole for the disconnector, so I cut the length to slightly below .150 to fit. The other frame allows the roll pin to pass through to the other side without hitting the disconnector, so I cut that roll pin to .620 if you can't find one I can send one to you. Just P.M. me.

Yeah, don't try to drill it, it will break your bit.

What I do it just punch a 1/16 punch in the hole to mark the ejector leg. Next remove ejector and with a round needle file file the mark slightly until it does not keep the pin from entering frame.

Like a complete idiot I tried to modify my magazine by squeezing it in a vise! Not the best idea I ever came up with. Let's just say it's in the bin.

In my last post I was asking about the second round moving forward and then Rusty shared some valuable info... oh, well. Wilson Combat on the way with a Chip McCormick Power Mag. When it's all done I'll post a few pics and let you all know how she's running.
