When I cycle only a single dummy round through, it ejects quite nicely... off to the right and slightly to the rear.
But when I put 2 in the mag and rack it after chambering the first, the slide goes fully to the rear with the round just sitting there held loosely by the extractor. It's almost as if the case isn't hitting the ejector. Have to a lock/rip & run to clear it.
This is a mil spec ejector, well fitted/secured on a finished tannery frame. Sarco slide with Caspian extractor and I've lowered and flared the port.
Tried a couple of different mags (Colt 7 rd/CMC 8 rd/CobraMage 8 rd).
I've decided to throw money at the problem and bought an extended ejector from Midway and I'll bevel it like the pics on BlindHogg's ejector page... just looking for things to check while I'm waiting for it to arrive.
Sounds like you are already going to do what it is I would have recommended. IE Go with an extended ejector. Make sure you are not using a shock buff and if you are remove it to ensure you are not short stroking your slide enough to not allow contact with your ejector. Good luck
While waiting for the extended ejector to arrive, I worked on this some more. Turns out I didn't have enough extractor tension.
Increasing this was problematic though. When I put a bend on it, it was very difficult to get into the slide. I examined this slide and my commander's side by side and found there wasn't enough room for it. No matter how much bend I put on, it didn't change the tension as the tunnel was just straightening it back out.
So took some metal off the inside wall at the front of the tunnel and a little off the end of the ejector where it hits the inside wall.
Now it extracts/ejects consistently. My build is finally ready for a trip to the range. I may leave the mil spec ejector on if it cycles ball ammo OK.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
