I've fitted a MGW bushing to my Commander, which actually fit almost perfectly straight out of the baggie. Just a bit of stoning/ polish- No play at all, also no springing or binding. As I slide the barrel through the bushing, I can feel the barrel lathe marks (Colt factory barrel). Is it worth the time to polish these off vs. let the gun wear in? And if I do polish the barrel surface, is corrosion a significant concern?
First thing you must do is ensure that your new bushing is not too long or longer than your stock one or your longer bushing will stop the rearward momentum of the slide with is a bad thing!!
I do not think you need to worry about the machine marks as you will be taking down the OD of the barrel and if the fit is tight let it ride especially if you have no springing, if you did have springing I would say go for it but it does not sound like it is necessary.
Thanks. I measured the stock and new bushing (Actually EGW drop in angle bored bushing, I mistyped the original post) and they are the same length. Now on to more "Invasive" procedures- Grip safety, dehorn, checkering. Too much fun.
