I have a 60% 1911 reciver that I am considering making a "custom" 460 Rowland. What upgrades would y'all suggest to make it better than a standard 1911 in terms of handling the 460 power? My plans so far are to order the 460 kit which would get me my barrel, Bushing, Link, full length guide rod, 20 lb recoil spring and Wolff recoil spring kit. From here I still need a slide and all the lower reciver parts and other various parts. So tell me what you think my goals for the build would be something for deer hunting and for fun.

When I saw Johnny pluggin' the .460 on TV, he said it absolutely required a muzzle brake, or the high pressures would cause premature unlocking and the gun would beat itself to death. Does the .460 need a comp, or not? I've contemplated converting one of my .45s to .451 Detonics Magnum, which is pretty close to the .460 dimensionally, but apparently runs at enough lower pressure that the comp isn't necessary (though might still be a good idea?).

Wilson makes a .460 with out a compensator they call it the Wilson Combat Hunter, uses a flat bottom firing pin stop to delay lock up. I have shot the .451 Detonics for a long time, bought a conversion kit for a Commander years ago, when they offered them, came with barrel, brass and dies. Since then, I have rechambered a barrel for my Commander to .460 and added an EGW firing pin stop and have had no problems and have over 4k rounds through it.
